Fresh, Local, Organic,
Fresh, Local, Organic,
Fresh - always straight from being harvested in our fields directly to you.
Local - grown right here on our own land, next door or around the corner from where you live. You can know where your food comes from, how it is grown, and who is growing it.
Organic - we work in partnership with nature and not against it, relying on natural and biological methods, not on synthetic chemical pesticides and fertilizers.
"What are we going to call our farm?" That was the question after we purchased our ten acre property in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina in 2013. My response was a laugh and then a question in response. "Well, what are we going to grow? You can't call it a farm if we're not farming.” Little did I know what that question would lead to. It wasn't long before we started expanding beyond the original 20x40 foot garden spot and the typical summer vegetable crops we were most familiar with. Over the next few years we kept adding more and more crops that we wanted to eat ourselves or that we learned grew well here in the central North Carolina soils and environment. Before we knew it, we were "farming!”
When we aren’t farming, you can find us coaching gymnastics, working as a nurse with new moms and babies, in grad school for counseling psychology, building patios, homeschooling kids, and running an agricultural technology company. What started as hobby homesteading in the midst of these full time jobs has turned into what you now know as the “Garden of the Vods.”
Who are the Vods? Well…we are!
Our mission is to use our land, our animals, and our Creator’s perfect design to regeneratively grow fresh and organic food for ourselves and our community, and this dream came to life in 2023 when we opened our farm stand to the public. We believe that healthy soil makes healthy food, and healthy food makes healthy people.
